Oregon AFSCME Local 328 Settles Historic Contract With OHSU
Contract Includes Massive Investments in Workers
Oregon AFSCME Local 328 and OHSU have settled a historic contract after more than seven months of bargaining and 93% of voting members authorizing a strike.
Highlights of the contract include:
- 17% raise over the course of the three-year contract with 7% in the first year, followed by 5% in years two and three
- A $3,000 ratification bonus for full-time employees, and a $1,500 ratification bonus for part-time employees
- Tripled weekend differential
- Expanded preceptor pay
- Establishment of a new well-being bank
- Paid bereavement leave of 20 hours per year
- Diversity/Equity/Inclusion: This new section of the contract defines discrimination and harassment, abusive imagery, sexual harassment, bullying and workplace violence. It better outlines the process to handle complaints of discrimination or harassment, establishes interim actions (such as paid administrative leave) and lays out OHSU’s responsibilities re: ensuring employees’ safety from harassment, discrimination and violence. It will also require the employer to provide our union with a quarterly report re: harassment and discrimination cases at OHSU.
“OHSU Local 328 members have sacrificed so much over the last three years, often saving lives at the expense of their own safety and well-being. Our members came together and organized for a historic contract win that makes real and meaningful investments in our workplace, our lives, and our future” said AFSCME Local 328 President Michael Stewart.
The TA’d contract now goes to AFSCME Local 328’s approximately 5,800 members for a vote in early October. Members will vote via secure online ballot or in person, with further details to be announced.
