Gayla has been part of the City’s Independent Police Review since December 2022 and became an AFSCME union steward in 2023. Previously, she was in the Auditor’s Office for over 10 years and participated on their bargaining team. Gayla started her term as IPR Chapter Chair in February 2025. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s in strategic communication.
